Get answers to common questions about Pico Laser.
Pico Laser uses ultra-fast picosecond pulses to mechanically shatter pigment and tattoo ink into tiny particles. Because pulses are so brief, heat damage is minimized, allowing faster healing, reduced downtime, and safe clearance of color and stubborn lesions.
Most clients experience mild discomfort similar to snapping rubber bands; topical numbing is available. Redness and light swelling are common for a few hours to a few days, but most people return to normal activities quickly with minimal downtime.
Treatment count varies with pigment type, depth, size, and skin type. Superficial brown spots may clear in one to three sessions, while deeper pigment or tattoos often require multiple treatments spaced four to eight weeks apart for optimal results.
Side effects are typically mild and temporary: redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding, blistering, or short-term pigment changes. Rarely, scarring or persistent discoloration occurs. A professional evaluation and appropriate post-care minimize risks and ensure safe, effective outcomes.
Ideal candidates have stubborn pigment, sun spots, melasma, or unwanted tattoos and realistic expectations. Candidates should be in good general health; certain skin tones or recent sun exposure may require tailored settings or alternative options discussed during consultation.
Avoid tanning, retinoids, and certain topical acids before treatment. Afterward, follow gentle cleansing, broad-spectrum sunscreen, and prescribed ointments. Keep treated area protected, avoid picking, and attend follow-up visits to monitor healing and achieve best results.
